The Work |
| The Centre is known throughout New Zealand and internationally for its research and scholarship, and for the use of its research in the development of policy, practice, curriculum, resources, assessment and professional development. |
| |
Our History |
| The Centre for Science & Technology Education Research was formed in 1989. It has grown from the Science Education Research Unit, which was started in 1981 by Dr Roger Osborne and Professor Peter Freyberg. The Centre is an interdisciplinary centre jointly administered by the School of Science & Engineering and School of Education. |

Our Study Awards |
| Each year we offer a number of teacher study awards that can be applied for by teachers who wish to enrol in either full or part-time study with us in the following year. Applications for these scholarships are considered each year in early December. Please contact the administrator to apply. |
| |
Our Courses |
| We provide a variety of on-line, face-to-face, full-time and part-time postgraduate papers and research supervision leading to a range of qualifications from postgraduate diplomas to Masters and PhD degrees. The academic programs we offer are flexible and allow students to specialize in their particular area of interest, to undertake interdisciplinary study, and to learn to do research. Excellent facilities are available in the Centre and at the University so join our community and take advantage of all that we offer. (see Degrees or Papers above) |

Our Students |
| The Centre offers opportunities for professional growth for people working in science and technology education. Our students include practicing teachers, teacher educators and curriculum developers from throughout New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Asia. Most students are graduates seeking mid-career professional development through advanced study for higher qualifications. Staff and students work together as colleagues in a co-operative and supportive environment. (See Students) |
